January 2009

Message from the East

Dear Brothers,

I hope this New Year brings health and good fortune to all the membership of Union Lodge # 5.  I am pleased and honored that the brethren have chosen me to serve in the East for 2009.

This past year has been one of growth for the lodge. The physical space has been transformed and many new brothers have joined the fraternity thanks to the dedicated leadership of the Worshipful Master and his officers. We look forward to this continuing evolution. It shall always be a place of brotherhood and good counsel for all involved. We hope the lodge will become a place where the brothers would like to spend time.  Two nights a month are not enough to take part in all that masonry has to offer.

We are fortunate to have so many Past Masters in the line and also in attendance at each stated communication.  Their counsel will be a great resource in the coming year.  The strength of any organization is derived from the contributions of its members. Proposals and initiation by all the officers will add much more variety to planned events.  We have a wealth of talent in the officers for 2009. They are:  Stephen Petri-Senior Warden, Jon Ringel-Junior Warden, Domenic Corbo PM-Treasurer, Robert Stack PM-Secretary, Kaleb Winsiko-Senior Deacon, Alan Weinstein-Junior Deacon, Antonio Forte-Senior Steward, Felix Lugo-Junior Steward, Ed Carceres-Marshall, Adam Ellyson-Tiler, and Ron Sala PM-Chaplain.  We thank the previous officers for their service in the past year.

It is my sincere hope that the lodge can continue along the path of financial growth.  We have had many successful functions in the lodge. Table lodges, pancake breakfasts, gourmet dinners and outdoor events have brought many brothers back and generated income for Union #5. We hope to have the same attendance at several parties planned in the next few months.

We have several Brothers-in-waiting that need to finish their degree work. It is up to all the brothers to help them with their proficiencies and move them forward to Master Masons. We look forward to offering them excellent rituals in the coming months.

If there is anything that any brother about the lodge would like to see happen in 2009 please feel free to approach the East.

Sincerely,

Ken Robertson

Worshipful Master
